A house with a gallery

The form of the house is contemporary - a single-storey orthogonal prism with a flat roof. This rather banal material solution develops the concept of creating intimate spaces (patios and terraces) that are distributed depending on the internal layout and allow a certain filter between the garden and the street. The main mass of the house is set back behind a regular grid of columns, beams and battens supporting the roof, which not only forms a shading element and allows one to walk around the entire perimeter of the house with dry feet, but also optically cements the mass back. The choice of translucent roofing in the form of a corrugated polycarbonate sheet will allow a lively play of light and shadow on the facades of the house. The perimeter shell of the house itself is double-skinned with a ventilated gap, and the visible layer consists of wooden planks. The choice of this surface treatment not only supports the effort to set aside the main volume of the building, but above all provides protection against external influences and pests. The projecting structure of the roof and the footing layer of the walkway and terrace is made of wood with a clear surface treatment so that the natural color and structure of the material used is highlighted. Window fillings, locksmith products and sheeting are anthracite so that they do not create a contrasting impression on the exterior. A new fence towards the access road is being considered, made of concrete elements of the lost formwork, supplemented with horizontal wooden battens with a dark glaze. The courtyard of the house is generous and, thanks to the large window, creates a direct optical connection with the garden. The layout of the house is fully subordinated to the ideal orientation to the cardinal points and with regard to distant views. The proposal envisages a two-by-four wooden frame construction system, which will enable quick and basically dry construction and minimize the requirements for access roads to the construction site. The wooden structure is raised into the foundation subsoil using wooden beams and concrete circular pillars. This method enables perfect ventilation under the object and minimizes the actual built-up area.
